Emmanuel was founded in 1988 and
numbers about 200 members and is on the move. Beginning
services were held in Decker Gym and soon space was rented from Granbury Seventh
Day Adventist Church. Having sold our property at 1921 Acton Highway, we once
again, were worshiping at Granbury Seventh Day Adventist Church until our building was
completed. It is located on 10 acres at 2301 Fall Creek Highway, Acton. Lutherans
are the largest Protestant denomination in the world with about 60 - 70
million members. The Evangelical Lutheran Church in
America is the fifth largest Christian Church body in the U.S. and numbers
about 5.2 million. Origins in the United States date back to the
1600's. Emmanuel Lutheran is one of over 11,000 congregations in the
country, but the only ELCA congregation in nearly a 40 - 50 mile radius. Lutherans
believe in Sola Scriptura - by Scripture alone; Sola Gratia - by God's grace
alone; Sola Fide - by Faith in Jesus Christ alone. God's grace in
Baptism makes us God's children and grace in Holy Communion nourishes our
faith. Since God's grace frees us, our lives have energy to thank and
love and serve in a spirit of joyfulness - Christianity is not a sentence to
be served, but an adventure to be lived. Ministry
has been vibrant and outreaching into the community.
